MEMORIES IN THE SKIN
Exhibition – Collective research
Xavier C. brings together artists, researchers and practitioners from different fields in a working group that explores our relationship to memory and identity. Going against the theoretical field, it proposes a collaborative experimentation around the production of gestures and forms and their collective assimilation.
Gestures (physical gesture, technical gesture, community gesture, artistic gesture, etc.) are the sum of our social productions and can be considered in a progression, a History of human practices and techniques. Thus, our projection spaces, whether mental, spatial or physical, produce behaviors as well as material objects intended to give meaning to our interactions. These human productions, let us say industrious, seem to exist in an in-between space. They are simultaneously the vectors of certain heritages and knowledge transmitted over time, but also the technical and material means of transforming our world. How do our bodies then allow us to distinguish between usage conventions conveyed by these objects (the glass allows us to drink) and ideological strategies inherent to their design (you have to drink from a glass)? Do objects have an action potential? How do we form a memory of these concept-objects? How does this memory project our values, our sense of community belonging? How are our uses shared through our productions? How do they transform our individual consciousnesses like the collective unconscious?
FOCUS
Co-creatioN
This collective experimentation allowed us to develop common gestures and to appropriate each other’s language through trial and error during meetings combining creation in multiple forms, from dance to drawing to poetry. Here a piece part of a series of ex-votos made with the intention of treating an ailing organ inherited from trans-generational trauma.

FOCUS
COLLECTIF MEMORIES IN THE SKIN
Lucie Calise is an artist with hybrid practices combining graphic representations and spatial experiments. She is particularly interested in the sensitive and psycho-affective relationships that a body maintains with its environment.
Eva Colpacci is a choreographer, director and dancer. His research focuses on the relationship between gesture and language. From speech to the inability to say, what impact do words have on the body?
Charlotte Joly is a researcher and clinical Neuropsychologist
Florence Marqueyrol is interested in the issues of transmission, whether through her practice of mediation, pedagogy or cartomancy – as a means of supporting and freeing speech to bring out stories. Through her practice of dance and her taste for performative forms, she develops a sensitive approach to artistic issues and pays particular attention to group dynamics, knowledge sharing and the creation of commonality.
Xavier Cormier is a visual artist, he conducts research on identity and memory. In particular, he studies the links between body memory and the built environment. Its devices combine issues of chosen production contexts, scientific or sociological investigation and memory samples to propose a rereading of the place of the body – individual as well as collective – in learning and the creation of semantic values.
Laureline Deloingce is a consultant and contemporary art project programmer. At the same time, she is conducting research through practice in the field of visual arts on questions of transmission and representations in social space. Responsible for cultural action and public service at frac Ile-de-France for five years (2018-2023), she supports regional projects in conjunction with partners and artists. His 15 years of experience in cultural mediation allows him to develop proposals for workshops and meetings with audiences from all backgrounds (young people, schools, seniors, medical-social etc.) in connection with artistic production.
